Step Into It 2025

4 Apr 25

Our Sheldon dance students showed off their enormous talent this week with two sold out performances of the annual dance showcase, Step Into It. Over 20 acts performed in a variety of pieces including soloists and group performances in ballet, jazz, lyrical and tap. Students from every year group took part, including members of our dance club and dance companies. GCSE and A Level dancers had an opportunity to showcase their exam pieces, as well as choreograph younger members of our dance company. Our Senior Dance Company also debuted the piece, We All Fall Down, which will be entered into the Great Big Dance Off Regional Finals later this month. The youngest dancers in Year 7 and 8 worked with guest choreographer, Emma Carter, to perform a very exciting piece that they learned during a special workshop after school last month.

Although the dancers make it look effortless, this show is a massive labour of love that takes countless hours of preparation on the part of our dancers and Miss Spalding, Sheldon's Teacher of Dance. Many of the dancers have been rehearsing the group pieces since December and were in our studio until 5:30pm in the weeks leading up to the performance. Thank you to everyone involved for their hard work and dedication. It is always a pleasure to see young people excel at a craft they are passionate about.

The performances would not be possible without the support of our PEA Faculty,  ITC department and Finance Team. We would also like to thank the Sixth Form A Level Music Technology students who provided lights and sound on the evening, as well as Patrick from the Sixth Form Charity Team who provided refreshments at the interval in aid of the Bristol Children's Hospital Grand Appeal.
