Christmas Concert 2024

7 Dec 24

On Thursday 5 December our School Hall was filled with fairy lights and festivity at our annual Christmas Concert. The concert is the unofficial start of the Christmas season at Sheldon and is always delight. Our students showcased their extraordinary talents as they played everything from classical pieces to Christmas standards, with a few pop hits thrown in for good measure. Performances included the Sheldon Orchestra, Sheldon Voices choir, Flute Group, Brass Group, Ukulele Group and String Group, as well as vocal and piano soloists and duets. We were also treated to performances by student bands FUZZHEAD and Insignia. It wouldn't be Christmas without a little caroling, so the entire audience joined in to sing Silent Night and We Wish You a Merry Christmas accompanied by the Brass Group.

Thank you to our wonderful music faculty and peripatetic teachers for working with the students over the last few months and providing accompaniment during the show. We'd especially like to thank our Head of Music, Mr Goldsworthy, for putting together such a fun night and allowing our students a chance to shine on the stage. The show couldn't happen without our dedicated Sixth Form Music Tech students who helped with set up between performances and ran the sound and lights. Thank you to Brajan, Henry, Owen and Zach for their hard work (and missed lunch breaks) to set up the show!

If your are inspired to take up an instrument, join the Sheldon Voices choir or learn more about music tech then join one of our music clubs. There are also opportunities to take individual music lesson during school hours. Speak to Mr Goldsworthy or Mrs Hall if you would like to know more about becoming a Sheldon musician. Find out more about music lesson here.

We'd also like to thank the Sixth Form Charity Team for providing refreshments during the interval. All proceeds from the evening's refreshment sales will go towards the flood relief appeals by Doorway and the Scouts. Thank you to everyone who donated.

I didn’t realise until I was older that the things i learned weren’t all academic - I was shown how to be a better person and express myself due to some really amazing teachers.
