Class of 2025 Leavers' Day

2 Jun 25

At the end of last term we held our Year 11 Leavers’ Day to celebrate the extraordinary Sheldon School Class of 2025! After sitting an exam in the morning, our students one last lunchbreak together with a picnic on the field. They signed yearbooks and shirts, chatted with friends and teachers and enjoyed ice lollies in the sunshine. We were very impressed by the creativity of this year group who really raised the bar with their decorated shirts!

We ended the afternoon with one last assembly and prize draw in the School Hall. Head of Year, Mrs Hall, reflected on the year group and how far they have come since joining Sheldon. “We are proud to have you in our cohort,” she said. “You have done great things, even during the busy exam season!”

Of our Class of 2025, Mr Lynch said: “What a great year group you have turned out to be. You have taken every opportunity that Sheldon has to offer.” In deed this has been a talented year group that has produced lauded musicians, talented athletes and dancers, stars of the Sheldon stage and gifted artists. The Class of 2025 has shown fantastic leadership throughout the year and has shown exemplary behaviour during the first set of exams.

Mr Lynch spoke to the students with a Richmond FC style pep-talk, encouraging students to ‘believe’ in themselves and the changes they can make in the world. His advice to all our leavers is to find something you love and can be passionate about, remember to be kind, to never settle and to think about the legacy you leave.

Our outgoing Head Students have certainly left a legacy by spearheading initiatives to benefit students for years to come. They have worked on projects including making picnic blankets available during lunchtime so that students can enjoy sunny days on the field, building a strong EAL community and creating lunchtime clubs so that all students feel included and creating engaging fundraising events for the Bristol Children’s Hospital Grand Appeal. We’d like to thank Eve, Elod, Anneka and Ross for the leadership and dedication, as well as all of our Prefects for their support at school events and activities throughout the year.

We’d like to wish all of our Year 11 students the best of luck with the rest of their exams. Use your study leave responsibly and please get in touch if you need any support during your last month at Sheldon. We look forward to seeing many of you here next year at Sheldon Sixth Form. For those of you moving on to college or other schools, we hope that you’ll always keep the Sheldon values with you. Remember to be kind, be brave and be the best you.

I was head girl in 2015 and loved being able to speak to parents about my time at Sheldon when they were considering where their children should go. Because of how it has shaped me as a person I feel I am who I am today because of my time there.
