First Aid Training
In addition to the First Aid module in PSRE classes, Year 8 students were also invited to complete a first aid course over after school over a five week period. We encourage all of our students too carry out a first aid course, but very few are offered in the Chippenham area. Due to overwhelming interest, we were delighted to invite Ian Chatterton, a first aid trainer and paramedic, to run the course for our students. At the end of the training, all participants will receive a certificate and record of their training, along with the confidence to respond to an emergency situation.
During their training, our students learned all about dressing different types of wounds and burns. They had the opportunity to create gruesome injuries and then perform first aid on each other. They also learned about how to react to allergic reactions and use an Epi Pen safely, how to perform CPR, how to place someone in the recovery position and much more. We have been very impressed by our students participation in the programme. They have paid close attention, asked great questions and had a lot of fun while learning about First Aid. Thank you to Ian for providing this essential training for young people.
