Congratulations to Year 12 student, Otis, for his extraordinary performance at the UK Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham last weekend that has Olympics.com calling him a Boy Wonder. Despite being invited to compete only days before the event, Otis secured a new PB of 2.20m and took home the gold. He was the youngest winner on the day and so earned the Microplus Performance of the Day Award. After the event, Otis said:

It feels amazing given that I wasn’t even coming here until Wednesday. Every time I cleared I felt there was room to improve so I kept going and I am delighted and surprised to clear 2.20m. I have school tomorrow so no real time to celebrate.

He won the U20 Indoor Athletics Championship earlier this month with a previous PB of 2.09. That's an 11cm improvement in only a matter of weeks! Otis is now ranked second in the world for U20 high jump. Otis is hoping to get a scholarship to an American university to continue his jumping career, but until then he's continuing his training alongside his A Level studies.

Otis has been profiled by a number of media outlets this week due to this extraordinary performance, including:
