School Closure Update

The electrical issues we had at the start of the week have continued today with staff on site. The backup generator provided by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) went offline again overnight for the third successive night, and the school's IT systems were then shut down abruptly and this has led to them being offline for most of the morning. Obviously, these are instrumental in the safe running of the school and hold all our resources for teaching. Therefore, it would not have been possible to open this morning with these not working.

Although we have been assured by SSE that the problem is going to be fixed, and we will be back on the mains grid by the end of the day, the problem is yet to be fixed and hasn’t been signed off by them. All these are unknowns, and time is now ticking away to make a decision for tomorrow. Currently, we have instructed staff to set students work to complete online via Epraise, like today, where students complete the work for the lessons on their timetable. However, if we get the all clear in the early evening, we will send a message to confirm opening as normal around 9pm tonight.

We appreciate this situation isn't ideal, we would love to be able to make a firm decision, but we are not in control of this problem and are in the hands of the electricity company. Please keep an eye on school communications for further updates, these will be via School Comms and the school Facebook page.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
