Sixth Form Open Evening

Thank you to everyone who attended the Sheldon Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 16 October. We were very pleased to see a full house in the School Hall for both presentations and were delighted to welcome students from over 14 different secondary schools to Sheldon Sixth Form, along with our current Year 11 class.

Mr Lynch, Headteacher of Sheldon School, welcomed visitors to the school and explained that the most recent set of results from Sheldon Sixth Form were some of the best ever in terms of their value added score. This means that most students achieved results at least half a mark higher than predicted. Mr Spiers, Head of Sheldon Sixth Form, explained that the goal for the school is to not just get great results, but to help shape students into great adults ready to take on the next stage in their life--whether that is further university education, an apprenticeship or employment.

He explained that Sheldon Sixth Form achieves this through the Five Star Guarantee:

Our Sixth Form Co-Presidents, Sayma and Amber then spoke about their experience in Sheldon Sixth Form and how enrichment opportunities have helped developed their confidence and skill set to help them prepare for university and higher level apprenticeships. There is a wide range of activities that our students can choose and we encourage everyone to give back to the community during a portion of their study periods through volunteering or mentoring through our Project 5000 programme. 

During the evening, students were able to visit presentations about the courses we offer at Sheldon Sixth Form. They were also able to speak with teachers and students first hand about the coursework. We'd like to say a huge thank you to the students that volunteered during the evening. You all represented the school beautifully as you shared your enthusiasm for your chosen subjects and Sheldon Sixth Form.

Applications for Sheldon Sixth Form are now open. Current Sheldon Year 11 students should have received an email directing them to the applications portal. If you would like to apply from a different secondary school, you can begin your application by clicking here. Applications must be completed by 9 January 2026.

In the next few months, students will be invited to speak with a member of our Sixth Form Team about their future plans and which courses to select. We look forward to seeing our Year 11 students transition to Sheldon Sixth Form at the end of the summer, as well as welcoming many new faces from across the local area!
