Wendy and Peter Pan Closing Night

12 Dec 24

Our outstanding school production of Wendy & Peter Pan closed last night after a successful 3-night run. At the final curtain call the cast gave out presents to the staff that helped put the production together. Lead actress Phoebe (Wendy), a veteran of the Sheldon stage, said she'd never had so much fun working on a production and thanked all the staffed involved for their support and guidance over the last few months. Headteacher, Mr Lynch, gave a short speech thanking everyone in the Performing and Expressive Arts Faculty creating such a wonderful, collaborative production.

He said, "This event would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of so many individuals. So thank you to all the staff who have work behind the scenes, giving up their break, lunchtimes and afterschool to put on such a fabulous production:

  • Cesca Daley – for her inspiring co-direction
  • Tammy Spalding – for the stunning choreography and dance direction
  • Craig Goldsworthy – for bringing the music to life
  • Michael Anderton – for the contributions of the art club
  • Mike Pritchard – for technical support that ensured everything ran smoothly
  • The Site Team – for their invaluable help in setting up the stage
  • Mike Chrystal and Catherine Thompson – for their incredible work in creating the set
  • Martine Campbell and Jenny Southall Teale – for their superb stage management and rehearsal coordination
  • Lauren Dare– for designing the programme and capturing the magic through photography
  • The Finance Team – for ensuring ticket sales were seamless

Finally, I would like to single out and thank the following 4 members of the Drama production team for providing the opportunity for our students here at Sheldon.

  • Amy Waller – Head of Drama
  • Simon White – for his exceptional direction
  • Bridget Collins – for her brilliant work on makeup, Front of House coordination, and liaison with primary schools
  • Rhian Brunt – for her creativity and support with costumes"

This play was the first production produced by our new Head of PEA, Mrs Brunt, and Head of Drama, Miss Waller. We'd like to congratulate them both for their success this week and can't wait to see what they have planned for next year! Our Performing and Expressive Arts Faculty really shines this time of year when talented artists, musicians and actors get to take centre stage. We'd like to congratulate all the students involved for having the courage, dedication and talent to make Wendy & Peter Pan such a delightful show! Thank you also to all the families that supported our cast and to everyone for joining us in the audience.

If you've been inspired by our Christmas performances, you may want to join one of our PEA clubs. Auditions for next year's show will be held in September and everyone is welcome!

The school reinforced my core values and built friendships that have continued to this day, drama gave me the confidence to begin to stand in front of strangers and speak to groups.
