Y12 Trip to Pound Arts

10 Feb 26

Our Year 12 art students recently visit the Pound Arts Centre in Corsham to get inspiration from artists in our community. They had the opportunity to meet with the artists in residence to learn more about their work and life as a practicing artists. Our students were also lucky enough to view the current exhibition, Shut Up, a thought-provoking mixed media exhibition by award-winning textile artist Nicola Davis.

Nicola is a former Sheldon student who also studied art for her A Level. Her first solo exhibition bares all with brutally honest depictions of her mindset and recovery. Featuring her signature silk paintings to batik on cotton, mixed media collage and embroidery, the exhibition is a rare treat for our students to see works by someone who very recently shared the same school art studios. We hope that the trip inspires them as they continue to develop their practice.

Nicola Davis's exhibition is open until 21 February.

The school reinforced my core values and built friendships that have continued to this day, drama gave me the confidence to begin to stand in front of strangers and speak to groups.
