School Ambassadors

Students in Year 9 have the opportunity to apply to become Ambassadors for Science, Languages and Sports. Our Ambassadors support learning activities with younger students and local primary schools, represent their department during Open Evenings and other exciting events throughout the year. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to gain a leadership role and engage further in the subjects they love.

Science Ambassadors

Our Science Ambassadors support our Primary Liaison programme by working in science lessons of visiting primary schools, instructing them during hands-on experiments and showing off the exciting world of secondary science classes! They also support the Open Evening, discussing our science curriculum with perspective students and helping with science demonstrations. They support KS3 science and Lego robotics clubs, acting as mentors for younger students. They also have an opportunity to work on Sheldon's Mini Market Garden -- sowing, tending and harvesting fresh produce!

If you are interested in becoming a Science Ambassador, speak to your tutor or science teacher at the beginning of Year 9.

Sports Ambassadors

Our Sports Ambassadors help with a wide variety of sporting activities in the school. They help out with our sports lessons with local primary schools through the Chippenham Sports Partnerships--this could be teaching young people how to play hockey on the astro pitch or acting as a referee during a football match. They also help out with sports clubs and during Open Days, demonstrating all of the fun activities students can do during PE lessons. It is an excellent opportunity to gain leadership skills for anyone who enjoy sports and working with younger students!

If you're interested in becoming a Sports Ambassador, speak to your PE teacher and tutor during the beginning for Year 9.

Language Ambassadors

Our Language Ambassadors help promote the languages at Sheldon by assisting our Primary Liaison Language teacher, delivering weekly language lessons to local primary schools. They also represent the MFL Department at our Open Evenings and help with other fun language activities throughout the year.

Anyone can apply to be a Language Ambassador, regardless of the language you choose to study in Year 9. If you are interested, speak to your tutor or language teacher at the beginning of Year 9.
