A welcome from the Head of Faculty, Mrs Beange

Our English Team at Sheldon team believe that possessing excellent oral and written communication skills, together with confidence in reading, are fundamental life skills that enable young people to thrive at school and beyond. We strive to create an atmosphere in the faculty where students enjoy learning and where individual creativity and independent thought are encouraged and valued.

Our teachers are all dedicated subject specialists, enthusiastic and passionate about sharing their love for reading and writing. They are approachable and always have young people’s best interests at heart. We set high expectations in the classroom for hard work and our teaching is intellectually rigorous. After their years with us, we expect students to gain the highest grades of which they are capable and to have developed an appreciation, preferably a love, of literature and the use of language.

At KS5, the English Faculty offer three exciting A Levels in English Language, English Literature and Media Studies.
